Luis Batalha

Luis Batalha is the principal and founder of batallion legal.
Luis completed a Bachelor of Commerce and Laws degree at the University of Sydney, where he was awarded academic prizes and First Class Honours in Laws. Currently, Luis is completing a Master of Laws degree, also at the University of Sydney, with a focus on tax and superannuation.
Admitted as a Legal Practitioner in NSW, Luis has years of experience in tax and superannuation. Before founding batallion legal, he was with top-tier law firms, where he advised on tax law. Specifically, Luis advised clients on the implications of transactions, funds management and insurance products, development projects, financings, restructurings, joint ventures and trust arrangements. Among Luis's portfolio of transactions include:
- the $25bn LNG supply between the China National Offshore Oil Corporation and Australia's North-West Shelf consortium
- the spin-off of Deloitte Consulting from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu
- the stapling and subsequent quotation of securities for a major Macquarie Bank listed trust
- the Australian merger of Ernst & Young with Arthur Andersen
- the spin-off of PwC Consulting from PricewaterhouseCoopers
Luis is a member of the Taxation Institute of Australia's NSW Office of State Revenue Liaison Committee.
Luis is fluent in Portuguese and has a basic understanding of Mandarin and Japanese.
Swetha Narayanaswamy

Swetha Narayanaswamy is a consultant with batallion legal.
Swetha holds a Bachelor of Business and Laws degree from the University of Technology, Sydney, where she was awarded First Class Honours in Laws.
Admitted as a Legal Practitioner in NSW, Swetha has a number of years experience as a corporate, compliance and taxation lawyer with a large Australasian law firm. In particular, Swetha has advised various clients on all aspects of the Financial Services Reform Act, income tax and GST structuring issues and assisted in the drafting of commercial and corporate agreements.
Swetha is fluent in Hindi and Tamil, and is actively involved in Indian culture, widely participating in Folk dancing events.
Kazuhiro Asai

Kazuriho Asai is a consultant with batallion legal.
Born in Toyohashi city, Japan, Kaz completed a Bachelor of Arts and Laws degree at the University of Sydney as an international student.
Admitted as a Legal Practitioner in NSW, Kaz has a breadth of experience in property law, intellectual property and commercial and civil litigation. Before joining batallion legal, Kaz was a solicitor with respected CBD law firms, where he was involved in advising on a number of property developments, leasing and conveyancing matters. Kaz has appeared before Court at the local, district and supreme court levels.
Kaz is fluent in Japanese and has strong links with Japanese businesses both locally and overseas. Finally, Kaz has been a general editor for a widely circulated Japanese community magazine.
Wilson Lee

Wilson Lee is a consultant with batallion legal.
Wilson holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and is currently completing his Laws degree. In 2001, Wilson was admitted to the Institute of Chartered Accountants after successfully completing the prestigious Professional Year Program.
Wilson is a chartered accountant having gained experience with a financial institution and large international accounting firms in business services and tax advisory. Wilson has a wealth of experience in advising both large and small to medium enterprises on all aspects of accounting, income tax, FBT, GST, PAYG and payroll tax.
Wilson has a basic understanding of both Mandarin and Cantonese.
Judi Shinkel

Judi Shinkel is a consultant with batallion legal.
Judi has in excess of 15 years experience in property and general practise matters which she has built on a solid academic base. Her breadth of knowledge of property law and probate procedures have gained her invaluable experience with law firms in Australia, as well as in England and Italy.
Judi studied Laws at the University of Technology, Sydney and completed an Associate Degree in Law at Southern Cross University. She also holds a Conveyancing Licence and an Occupational Health and Safety Certificate and, in 1995, was appointed Justice of Peace by the NSW Supreme Court.
Judi has lectured on probate procedures and tutored post-graduates on the application of property law, probate and wills.
James Ng

James Ng is a consultant with batallion legal.
James is a Macquarie University graduate and holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and Laws degree.
Admitted as a Legal Practitioner in NSW, James' specialist expertise is in commercial litigation. In an area that most people find stressful and confusing, James strives to empower clients by providing them with advice that is easy to understand and relevant and meaningful to their business or personal lives. James provides representation both in court and out of court.
James has a basic understanding of Cantonese.
